THE 5TH EDITION OF THE SAINT LUCIA MASTERS
The curtains came down on the 5TH EDITION OF THE SAINT LUCIA INTERNATIONAL MASTERS FOOTBALL INVITATIONAL (SLIMFI), organized by Veterans in Sports Inc. (VISI), on Monday evening June 9 2025.
In front of a capacity crowd, Defense Force Past Players (DFPP) from Trinidad and Tobago dominated compatriots Sunday Krew with a commanding 4–0 victory in the Over-40 category, securing the championship trophy and a grand prize of US$4,000.
Goal scorers for DFPP included Christopher Durity (2) and one each from Devorn Jorsling and Steve Benny. Meanwhile, Ballers Forever (USA) clinched the third-place honors with a 2–0 win over Era Masters.
In the Over-50 category, Masters Re-Loaded, captained by Saint Lucian Earl Jean, claimed victory over Maracas A-Lite with a 2–0 triumph, thanks to Edwin Ferdinand’s goal in the 6th minute and Roger Celestin’s strike in the 44th.
Other Notable Wins: Micoud Falcons took third place in the 40+ Plate, defeating Baratara USA 4–3 on penalties after a tense, scoreless battle.
In the Third-Place Plate Playoff Main Draw, Ballers Forever (USA) again proved dominant, securing another 2–0 win over Era Masters.
Dennery United edged out a resilient Sunday Krew team from Trinidad and Tobago, 1–0, to claim third place in the Plate Playoff 50+.
In a thrilling all-Saint Lucia club derby, Labowi Connextions narrowly triumphed over Caricom Masters, 1–0.
Individual Achievements & Awards: Devorn Jorsling (T&T) was crowned Most Valuable Player of the Final in the Over-40 category.
Khell Elie (DFPP) earned the prestigious title of MVP of the Tournament.
Emmanuel Nurse (DFPP) was recognized as Best Goalkeeper, maintaining a flawless record across the four-day competition.
Most Goals: Joint top scorers Kendall Velox (Maracas A-Lite) and Roger Celestin (Masters Re-Loaded), both netting eight goals in the 50+ category.
